A woman named Katie was walking around Cobb County Animal Shelter in Georgia with no intention of adopting a dog when she saw someone she just couldn’t turn away from. She looked into a kennel and saw a dog with the most soulful eyes looking right at her.
“[M]y eyes locked with hers,” Katie wrote in a TikTok.
Katie noticed the dog seemed really frightened and anxious. When she learned about her backstory, she immediately understood why.
Just days before her arrival at the shelter, the pup had been discovered tied to a bench at a bus stop. She was left all alone to bake in the Georgia summer heat.
Someone posted a picture of her to a local lost pets Facebook group. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan was able to calm down the pup enough to get her in their car and take her to animal control.
It wasn’t long before she ended up at the shelter where she locked eyes with the person who would change her life. Katie decided the pup wasn’t going to spend even one more night not knowing she was safe. She named her Roo and took her home.
As soon as Roo arrived at her forever home, she transformed. She went from looking completely terrified and traumatized to looking comfortable and happy.
Katie went out of her way to create a comfortable environment for Roo. She spoiled her with homemade puppy popsicles, a luxurious shower and, of course, lots of pets.
“She knew she was safe and loved again,” Katie wrote.
After enduring her abandonment and her time in an overcrowded shelter, Roo was understandably exhausted. Now, she finally gets to relax.
“She will always have a home with me,” Katie wrote.
