The summer transfer window for Premier League clubs is now open. They are busy strengthening their squads and adding new players ahead of the new season.
Manchester United were the top club in the league with two quality additions. From Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, Jadon Sancho (English winger) and Raphael Varane (defender), have joined them.
Chelsea is not far behind with their second most expensive signing, Romelu from Inter Milan’s former player Romelu Lukaku. This was for an estimated PS98 million.
Here are the top five new Premier League signings from other leagues in advance of the new season.
For a reported EUR50 million transfer fee, the Argentine defender joined Tottenham Hotspur as a player. Atalanta must have activated their option to sign Romero permanently from Juventus before Romero can move to Spurs.
Romero joined Atalanta as a loan player from Juventus last year. He played 42 games for Atalanta during the 2020/21 seasons. They were third in Serie A and reached Coppa Italia, losing to Juventus.
Liverpool acquired French defender Ibrahima Konate (RB Leipzig) for a reported transfer fee in the region of PS35million. The deal was for a five year contract. The highly-rated youngster was a part of 21 Bundesliga matches last season. He will be a valuable addition in Reds’ squad that suffered a lot because Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk were not available.
Jadon Sancho’s move from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United is one of the most talked-about transfers during this summer transfer window.
After a gap of four years, the English international returned home to England to pay a transfer fee in excess of PS73 million for a five-year contract with the Red Devils.
Sancho was part of 32 matches played for Dortmund last year in all competitions scoring 16 goals. He was also part the England team, which came in second place at the Euro 2020.
Manchester United also signed Raphael Varane, a French international defender, from Real Madrid. This was for a reported transfer fee in excess of PS41 millions.

The Belgian forward, Romelu Lukaku, was signed by Chelsea for a club-record transfer fee (PS98 million) from Inter Milan.
Lukaku finished second in Serie A with 24 goals scored in 36 matches. Lukaku had also been awarded the Serie A’s best player award.
